Experiencing Christ Together Series
LifeGroups continue with this excellent Purpose-Driven curriculum. Groups will engage in two of the following 6-week series of lessons.
|

|
Growing in Christ Together
Our world these days is so hectic, so complex. Where do we turn for wisdom and guidance in navigating the ins and outs of life? There are many voices to listen to and many examples to follow, but we really need look no further than the Author of Life, Jesus. He taught and lived a way of life that was purposeful and pleasing to God. These six sessions will show you the value and the nature of a life of discipleship, as modeled by Jesus.
|

|
Serving Like Christ Together
Jesus said he “did not come to be served, but to serve.” And he calls us as his followers to the same lifestyle and attitude of service. But how do we do that? In a world that values power and ease, we need some help in reorienting our hearts as well as our schedules. These six sessions look at key character traits taught and modeled by Jesus that are essential to a life of service in the steps of the Ultimate Servant.
|

|
Sharing Christ Together
Lost and hurting people are all around us. Jesus said he came to seek and save the lost, and he calls us into the same mission of love. But we often get bogged down in the how-tos of sharing our faith when the heart of the matter is…our heart. These six sessions expose us to the heart of Jesus as he shows and teaches his disciples how to have a vibrant witness that draws lost people so they can find the way home.

Surrendering to Christ Together
The ultimate paradox of the Christian life is that victory comes through surrender. Most of us aspire to a life of abandonment to God and his purposes, but we find the daily grind of life and our own old habits get in the way. Jesus knew he set the bar high, but he didn’t leave us without guidance. In these six sessions, you’ll learn from his teaching and example the character qualities essential to a “life less ordinary”—a life of worshipful surrender.

Christian Concepts on Caring for Aging Parents
Based on Barbara Deane's book "Caring for Your Aging Parents: When Love is not Enough". Each Sunday, participants will read and discuss the scripture-based chapters of this book. "It is practical, overflowing with empathy and speaks from a person who has gone through the process herself- a very accessible book which addresses the needs of both caregivers and aging parents." (Review) Open to all, this course hopes to offer practical Christian advice on a topic that people will face sometime in their life.
The class is led by Jill Townsend at 10:00 in The Prayer Room.

Forging a Nation II
For forty years, the people of Israel lived in the wilderness, led and fed by God. A new generation emerged, strengthened by the wilderness experience until they were ready to enter the land that God had given to them. Through selected readings from Deuteronomy and Numbers, the course explores God’s leadership in the growth of this people and the role of the law in shaping their destiny.
The class is moderated by Andy Blackwood at 10:00 in Room 120.

The New Testament: a DVD Lecture Series
Hosted by Professor Bart D. Ehrman (M.Div., The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Ph.D. Princeton Theological Seminary). Drawing on modern biblical scholarship, recent archaelogical discoveries and careful literary analysis, the course will trace the history of the New Testament and of the early Christian faith community. Professor Ehrman’s approach as an historian brings impressive scholarly evidence to bear on the task of reconstructing the life and ministry of Jesus and the origins of Christianity in the decades before and during the composition of the books that make up the New Testament. Each session will consist of a 30 minute illustrated DVD lecture by Professor Ehrman, followed by discussion among the class. All are welcome to participate.
The course is moderated by Don Kennedy & Dave Cowburn and meets in Rooms 108-109.

To Stand and Not Be Moved - by Fran Sciacca
- When circumstances change and life gets going too fast, it's easy to get swept along with the current. We get dragged down and pulled off course by things like selfishness, distorted priorities, avoiding difficulty, and making things more important than God. This Bible study is designed to help you get a grip on living your faith on a level that is deep and yet very basic. Here you will examine the lives of twelve Bible characters who stood firm in the midst of life's chaos.
- Eve---The Necessity of a Grateful Heart
- Esther---Seeing Your Life as a Means, Not an End
- Daniel---Staying True When it Matters Most
- Nathan---Speaking the Difficult Truth in Love
If you want to plant your feet solidly on God and His Word, this study will give you the edge on what it means to "let nothing move you."
The class is led by Alice Breuninger.
